While the average male life expectancy in Hong Kong recently also the first time overtaken Japan as the world’s oldest male place. But with bodily functions increasingly recession, friends left side, the ever-changing scenery familiar with the elderly how to cope and deal with this? Through this program will be a number of 70 to 80-year-old playing with the lives of elderly people and see what their needs are, and our community has been ready to meet the challenge.

I find Cantonese ppl way better than Westerners. I love their culture, tradition and history, ppl like Americans are not real ppl. Americans tend to enjoy attacking countries thousands of miles away, across their border own. Cantonese on the other hand are cool, Ihave lots of friends from HK .

Seniors in US,Canada and so called Western world seldom living together.I have heard your referred e.g. but it is rare circumstance and did no physical harm to those seniors involved but in Hong Kong you will see 70+citizens hauling a dolly begging for recycle paper. Also, there have been many incidents that involved son or their daughter-in-law were arrested for physical abuse. Chinese mentality is akin to an ostrich

yeah right, who are we kidding here! Hong Kong is a bad example, a British colony for 150 years, the Chinese in HK are totally brainwashed by Western culture. Still people in HK respect their elderly more so than people in countries such as UK, Canada, US. I have witnessed countless incidences of sons and daughters suing their parents over money and what not, what a disgrace! it is far less likely for Chinese to do things like that.

From what source you got the ideal that the so called western culture and education dosn’t respect senior citizens? My experience is that Chinese worldwide dosn’t seem put much effort in taking care of their senior citizens well. They have eloquent Confusions bullshit but seldom put it in practice.If U don’t agree,go to Hong Kong and China to see how they live.
ixanaths you also miss the point that Chinese people are taught to be academic in their early years. Western education is more lack than ever in the world.
One thing that separates Chinese from the West is that Chinese people are taught from a very young age to REVERE, CHERISH and RESPECT the elderly. I hope the blind obsession with western culture in HK and China will not compromise this wonderful heritage of the Chinese culture.

I am sure if we can show our love and care more openly to the elderly, they will appreciate much more than help or materials given.
To choose between a hug from my family and winning money, I am sure what my choice will be. As you aging, your choice might change, too.
We should learn the stonge strength from the older generation. Can you work half as hard as they did? I cannot! Be more understanding to the differences : for them (including me) feels help is ashamed. But everybody wants to be loved.
So next time, if you see a group of elderly in the park playing cards. They are not really gambling. They enjoys the companions and enviroment that they miss so much. Officiers please try to respect them and arrange it to be more enjoyment for them.
