This lecture, by Dr. Nadia Rosenthal, discusses the role of stem cells in the regeneration and repair of tissues, and their possible medicinal application through the harnessing of their regenerative properties. HHMI description: Human tissues vary in their ability to heal and regenerate. The nervous system has weak powers of regeneration, while the skin is quick to make new cells for repair. Mammalian muscle cells are intermediate in their ability to regenerate. Human muscle can regenerate in response to minor wounds and normal wear and tear, but humans will not grow a new bicep, for example, in response to amputation. The heart is the most important muscle in the body and yet has feeble regenerative capabilities. Research into the wholesale production of new replacement organs and limbs is in its infancy, but research into enhancing normal levels of regeneration is progressing rapidly. Recent discoveries concerning the location and characteristics of adult stem cells and the signals that wounded tissue produces to activate stem cells have increased our understanding of regeneration. Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) is an example of an important stem cell communication molecule. If the activity of the growth factor is experimentally enhanced, muscle regeneration improves.

If i recall correctly, matter and energy are never destroyed, just transformed. Taking control of this fact we can regenerate our bodies, biological or not, and live forever.
As for being bored, evolution has caused our brains to have needs and desires that further our existence as people, in the future you could create new desires and ways of meeting that desire simply for fun.

Curing aging is a must.
we need to cure aging. 100k people die EVERY DAY from aging. many people believe they just die a peaceful death. but thats unlikely. 2.4 trillion dollers 3/4 usa wealth is spent on the elderly every year. curing aging will not only save an extreme number of people… but will also save a ton of money.
You are saying that everything in the universe is deteriorating (Old thinking) the universe is growing, stars are being created, living, and dieing. No everything was created complete, the physical evidence today completely destroys that theory.

Everything ages and rusts. Even the stars and space fabric. Prediction: the urge to live forever as an ageless being sure sounds good, but it is going to turn us into fractured denatured soul less creatures interested only in task. It won’t be pretty. But then, it isn’t so pretty now…..

When we become more intelligent and have the capacity to live for hundreds of years, then we will know of ways to solve any problem faster than you could posibly imagine now. With more amplicons in your brain and full function for conscience thinking, you will be super humanly smarter than you can currently dream up. But will we make it in time before the IMF world bank takes over this technology and enslaves the world. The race is on!

No but on the edges of science, where the laws of Newtonian physics break down, science is beginning to sound a lot like religon, “everything is one” , some particle physicists can’t explain some things without talking about the appearence of a “pervasive intellegence”.
No I don’t know “for sure”. I am of course speaking of existence in any practical form, where the burden of proof lies on the ones who claim something exist, not the ones who claim the absence of it.. but whatever, religion isn’t relevant to science.

Ending aging would save more lives than anything else. Aging is a terminal disease that we all carry.
Beginner. God doesn’t exist. Also, if aging could be halted, some sort of system would have to be implemented for who would receive the treatment and how many children you would be allowed to produce.
Death is built into God’s system. Think about what would happen if nobody died! Overpopulation in a few generations, no new ideas or leadership. It would be a horrible world.
The end of aging is kind of a wasteful and cocky attitude towards stem cells that could also be used to um maybe save lives.
